Modern houses for several hundred families have been built in Hongui-dong and Hahoe-dong of Sonbong District, Rason City of the DPRK.

Ceremonies for moving into new houses held on the spot respectively were attended by Choe Un Chol, secretary of the Rason City Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Ri Kwang Nam, vice-chairman of the city people's committee, officials concerned, employees of the Jokji agro-stock production branch station under the Rason City Road Construction Group, the Hongui agro-stock production branch station under the Rason Food Administration Station and the Rason Rabbit Farm.

At the ceremonies the speakers extended the deepest gratitude to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a new era of rural development on this land with his tireless leadership.

In the final with the Japanese team on May 19, the Korean eleven put pressure upon the opponent by dint of strong attacks in the first half. No. 7 Jon Il Chong scored a goal by kicking a pass from player No. 15 one minute after the start of the second half.

The 2024 Pyongyang Underground Shop Spring Commodity Exhibition was held between May 3 and 9.

The show drew the Pyongyang Municipal Industry Management Bureau, Pyongyang Foodstuff Complex, provincial shipment wholesale stores, provincial, city and county food procurement units and other commodity supply units for the Pyongyang Underground Shop.

In the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, there are many folk games that reflect the wisdom, intelligence and rich emotions of the nation. One of them is janggi, or Korean chess, which has been enjoyed by the Korean people since ancient times.

As it mirrors the emotion, taste and sentiments of the Korean nation, janggi takes an important part in the cultural and emotional life of its people.

Chess pieces, called kung(king), cha(chariot), pho(cannon), mal(horse), sang(elephant), jol(solider) and sa(guard), show that the board game was created after social and class differentiation took place and the ruling machinery called a state was established. 

There is Pyongyang pibimpap among the traditional foods of the Korean people.

Pibimpap is the boiled rice mixed with different kinds of edible greens, meats and garnishes.

In ancient times, Korean ancestors would mix the boiled rice and side dishes which were put on the tables arranged for a village ritual or a religious service for the god of a mountain and eat the dish which had very special and good taste. This is how pibimpap came into being.

The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry made public a statement on May 16 to censure the US for its sanctions against Nicaragua.

Recently, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against businesses and entities in Nicaragua on unreasonable pretexts, and the statement branded and condemned it as an attempt to destroy the country’s anti-imperialist and independent stand.

On May 14, the Egyptian foreign minister said that Israel is totally responsible for the humanitarian disaster which Palestinians are suffering from in the Gaza Strip.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to Pang Sun Bok living in Neighbourhood Unit No. 18 of Sinphung-dong, Wonsan, Kangwon Province, on her 100th birthday.

She lived in sorrow suffering the miserable lot of an enslaved nation under Japanese military rule, and only after General Kim Il Sung liberated Korea could she lead a genuine life as master of the country.

As she lived a patriotic life, she brought up children into admirable persons loyally supporting the country.

The Spring Clothes Show-2024 took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House between April 29 and May 10, adding to the warm feelings in the balmy spring season.

On show at the exhibition, held on the theme of "As resplendently as our era, as beautifully as our ideal", were at least 50 000 pieces of spring and summer clothing for men, women and children of over 20 kinds presented by more than 270 light industrial goods production units.

“The recent show was aimed at diversifying garment products as required by the public interest and aesthetic taste in the dressing culture which grow rapidly, leading the development of civilization in the new era,” said Yun Hong Gil, deputy secretary general of the Korean Garment Industry Association.
