
The Second Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held from June 20 to 22 to conduct an interim review of the implementation of the Party and state policies for 2026, a year of key importance when a breakthrough should be made in carrying out the strategic tasks and the new five-year plan set forth at the Ninth Congress of the WPK, confirm the central points of work and the orientation of struggle for the second half of the year, and discuss and decide on the pending issues urgently needed for putting overall socialist construction on a stable and sustained development track.
The plenary meeting took place in the form of an enlarged meeting with the attendance of members of the Party central leadership as well as leading officials of guidance organs in Pyongyang and the regions, senior Party and administrative officials of major industrial establishments and major commanding officers of the Korean People’s Army.
The meeting presidium was composed of members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
The following agenda items were brought up for discussion at the meeting:
First, Interim Review of the Implementation of the Major Party and State Policies for 2026
Second, On Shoring up the Coal-mining Industry and Remodelling the Coal-Mining Villages across the Country
Third, On a Series of Measures for Enhancing the Role of the City and County People’s Committees
Fourth, Organizational Matter
The plenary meeting heard and deliberated on the report on the implementation of the Party and state policies in the first half of the year.
