The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket from Cui Tongwen, honorary director of the Board of Directors of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation, on April 29 on the occasion of the 135th May Day, the international holiday of the working people of the whole world. 

A flower basket was sent to the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang by Cui Tongjun and Wang Shuli, members of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation, on the occasion of the 135th May Day, the international holiday of the working people of the whole world.

The flower basket was laid before the statues of the great leaders on April 29. 

A meeting to convey a congratulatory message sent by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to the workers, technicians and officials of the Ponghwa Chemical Factory took place on the spot on April 29 on the occasion of its 50th founding anniversary.

Present there were Kim Tok Hun, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, officials concerned and officials and employees of the factory.

Kim Tok Hun conveyed the congratulatory message of the WPK Central Committee to the workers, technicians and officials of the factory.

An inauguration ceremony of the remodelled project of the Jonchon Rock Drill Factory was held on April 29.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the DPRK Cabinet.

Also on hand were Sin Chang Gil, chairman of the Jagang Provincial People's Committee, officials concerned and builders and employees of the factory.

The Pyongyang Pomiculture Research Branch of the Institute of Pomology of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences was wonderfully renovated and inaugurated.

The completion of the modern pomiculture research base fully fur-nished with all conditions including various research rooms like breeding research room, laboratories and e-reading room has provided another material and technical foundation conducive to the implementation of the Workers' Party of Korea's policy of fruit farming.

Its inaugural ceremony took place on April 29.

The 16th Commodity Exhibition at Pyongyang Department Store No. 1 opened with due ceremony on April 29.

On display there were more than 1 275 000 pieces of goods of over 1 700 kinds including industrial goods and foodstuffs produced by 400 odd units such as ministries, national agencies and industrial establishments in provinces.

The Wonsan and Pothonggang footwear factories, the Phyongsong Unphasan Bag Branch Factory, the Sinuiju Cosmetics Factory, the Ryonggang Stone Processing Factory and others presented goods which were developed and produced to suit the tastes, characteristics and hobbies of the people.

A national industrial design exhibition for celebrating April 15, the birthday of President Kim Il Sung, closed with due ceremony at the Industrial Design Exhibition House of the Central Industrial Design Bureau on April 29.

Present at the closing ceremony were officials concerned, officials and creators in the field of industrial design and others.

Diplomas and medals were awarded to the highly appreciated units and members and the April 10 Design Prize and relevant prizes to the creators who proved successful in the creation of industrial designs in the past. 

The Jangsu Koryo Medicine Pharmaceutical Factory has been successfully renovated as a model of the Koryo medicine pharmaceutical factories in the DPRK.

The factory has been furnished with modern equipment and the production processes have been put on a germ-free and dust-free basis on a high level. As a result, another material and technical foundation has been provided to contribute to the wellbeing of the people by increasing the production of efficacious Koryo medicines.

An inauguration ceremony took place on April 30.

The construction of a motor bridge linking the DPRK and Russian borders began while practical measures have positively been taken to strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation under the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries of the DPRK and Russia.

The construction of the motor bridge serves as a significant occasion in adding fresh dynamics to the development of the friendly relations between the two countries as it provides a substantial guarantee for laying down and reinforcing the important infrastructure for economic cooperation and for vitalizing the bilateral cooperation including travel of persons, tourism and circulation of commodities in a many-sided way.

A ground-breaking ceremony took place simultaneously in Rason Municipality, a border city of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Khasan, a border city of the Russian Federation, on April 30 amid deep interest and expectations of the governments and peoples of the two countries.
