In March, many final-year senior middle school students across the country volunteered for front-line border posts, hardening their resolve to mercilessly punish with arms of the revolution the US and the ROK clan for their reckless war drills seriously threatening the sovereignty of the DPRK.

Well over a hundred of them in Chongjin expressed their determination to volunteer for front-line army units, regarding national defence as the highest expression of patriotism, the most sacred duty and the foremost mission.

Among them were those who decided to join the Korean People’s Army for national defence, instead of entering universities, with a strong desire to successfully carry forward the resolute spirit of national defence displayed by the victorious wartime generation.

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees in the Near East on May 4 expressed concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

As Israel bans the shipment of humanitarian materials by blockading the Gaza Strip for 60-odd days, more than 70 000 children are suffering from extreme malnutrition, over 3 500 children under five are in danger of starvation and the situation is unimaginably desperate, the organization said.

The organization called on the international community to take measures for achieving ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible and making humanitarian materials reach there.

The Iranian minister of defence and armed forces logistics warned against the US’ threat to his country at a press conference on May 4.

Recently the US Defense Secretary said that Iran will have to pay for anything. In connection with this, he said that it is a contradictory behaviour for the US to threaten the other side in every way while talking about negotiations. 

He emphasized that if the US and Israel start a war against the Islamic Republic, the Iranian armed forces will carry out retaliatory strikes on the military bases and targets of the enemies without hesitation.

The 22nd May 21 Architectural Festival will start at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on May 13.

The festival, which will be held on the theme of "The new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation and Juche-oriented architecture", will display architectural layouts, successes in introducing the architectural information modelling technology, construction equipment and tools selected at provincial (municipal) festivals, and there will be an expert examination and amateur evaluation of exhibits.

During the festival there will be an experience-sharing meeting and dissemination and exchange of latest architectural sci-tech data.
