The DPRK government hosted a reception at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on May 7 to welcome the visiting Belarus government delegation.

Invited to the reception was the Belarus government delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Shuleiko.

Present there were Jong Myong Su, vice-premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Kim Jong Gyu, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned.

Inter-sector talks were held on May 7 for the third meeting of the DPRK-Belarus intergovernmental joint committee for trade and economic cooperation.

The talks, attended by working officials of both sides, discussed in depth the detailed items for realizing cooperation in various fields to be reflected in the protocol of the meeting.

From olden times, samgyethang or a dish of chicken hard boiled with insam has been known as one of the traditional foods good for promoting health and invigorating the body.

Samgyethang is a soup made by boiling chicken and insam, the main ingredients, with chestnuts, jujubes, gingko nuts, a whole bulb of garlic and other additional materials.

To make the dish, a fat hen is parboiled in hot water and stuffed with insam. It is then put in a saucepan and boiled after pouring hot water until the whole chicken is immersed.

A few days ago, The Pyongyang Times reporter Pang Un Ju saw a table of daily nutritious food supply standards for nursery and kindergarten children on a visit to the Pyongyang Municipal Goods and Supply Agency for Nurseries and Kindergartens. 

The table showed in detail the national standards for the supply of dozens of nutritious foods including fish and eggs according to the ages of children.

Ri Myong Su, director of the agency, told her that under the care of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who spared nothing for the children, a system was already established in the country decades ago to supply nutritious foods, including meat, eggs, sweets and cakes, beans and fishes, to the children at kindergartens and nurseries across the country on a normal basis.

The Russian ambassador to Japan told TASS on May 5 that Tokyo will be the first victim of Washington’s geopolitical gamble.

Japan’s more active involvement in several “extended deterrence” plans relying on US’ nuclear weapons constitutes a dangerous move undermining the regional stability, he said. 

As the Japanese authorities do not recognize that the country would be the first victim in case the US’ nuclear war scenario is played out, they are blindly following it, he noted.
