Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un gives field guidance at major munitions industry enterprises

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited major munitions industry enterprises to acquaint himself with the missile and shell production in the fourth quarter of this year.

He was accompanied by Jo Chun Ryong, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kim Jong Sik, first deputy department director of the Central Committee of the WPK, Jang Chang Ha, general director of the Missile Administration of the DPRK, leading officials in the defence science research field and managers of the major munitions industry enterprises.

He received a report on the production results of the missile and shell production sector in 2025 and its production in the fourth quarter.

He referred to the need to work out the production plan for 2026 higher in a development-oriented way in line with the prospective national demand of the operation of the missile and artillery forces and to accordingly reinforce the technical foundations of the relevant production enterprises in a balanced way so as to further expand the overall production capacity, before advancing the technical and economic tasks for that.

He highly praised the major munitions industry enterprises for having successfully fulfilled their production plans for 2025, the last year of implementing the five-year plan set forth at the Eighth Congress of the WPK, and made a pivotal and core contribution to implementing the plan for developing the defence capabilities in the period under review.

In order to satisfy the prospective demands of the missile and artillery forces of the Korean People's Army, it is necessary to continuously raise the level of modernization of the munitions industry by establishing new munitions industry enterprises as planned, the construction of which will be decided on at the Ninth Congress of the WPK, and steadily updating the production structure of the existing factories in a more efficient and practicable way, he said.

In particular, the missile and shell production sector holds the most important position in bolstering up the war deterrent, he said, stressing that the Missile Administration and the relevant general bureau of the Second Economy Commission should make thorough preparations for unconditionally accepting and responsibly achieving the new modernization and production target to be set at the Ninth Congress of the Party.

That day, he ratified the draft documents on the modernization plans of the major munitions industry enterprises to be submitted to the Ninth Congress of the Party.
