CPV performs distinguished services on Korean front

October 25 this year marks the 70th anniversary of the participation of the Chinese People’s Volunteers in the Korean war on the side of the DPRK.

Marking the day, the Korean people pay noble respect to the valiant CPV soldiers and martyrs while looking back upon the immortal feats and internationalist obligation of the Chinese people who helped the Korean people at the cost of their blood during the Fatherland Liberation War.

During the war, CPV soldiers fought shoulder to shoulder with the Korean people while displaying unparalleled bravery, mass heroism and internationalist spirit in every battle.

The CPV units rendered distinguished services by conducting close joint operations with the units of the Korean People’s Army in numerous battles and operations including the battle in the lakeside of Jangjin, the encircling operation in the area of the Chongchon River and the battle on Sanggam Pass. In the course of this, lots of hero battalions, hero platoons, heroes, combatants of merit and model combatants were produced.

Hero Huang Jiguang blocked the enemy’s gun muzzle with his chest to ensure the advance of his unit and contributed greatly to the victory in the battle, saying “Beloved Korea, it is identical with my homeland. Though the enemy’s bullets may take my life, they can never take the lives of fraternal Koreans.”

Hero Yang Gensi threw himself into an enemy tank with an explosive, hero Sun Zhanyuan threw himself into the enemy’s position with a bundle of hand grenades to inflict wholesale deaths upon the enemies when he lost his two legs, and hero Qiu Shaoyuan sacrificed himself for the victory in the assault on Height 391. The heroic feats of Mao Anying, son of Chairman Mao Zedong, and many other CPV combatants are kept deeply in the minds of the Korean people.

During the war, the CPV fighters gave a helping hand to Korean farmers in their ploughing, sowing and harvesting by making good use of their spare time as they repaired destroyed reservoirs and embankments and reconstructed roads and bridges.

They laid down the lives and blood without hesitation for the Korean people regarding them as their brothers. A typical example is the heroic death of martyr Luo Shengjiao who jumped into an ice hole in the coldest season and saved the life of a Korean boy by dedicating his precious life.

Such heroic and self-sacrificing fighting spirit of them inspired the Korean people greatly and made tangible contributions to hastening the day of victory in the war.

Many years have passed since then and lots of changes have occurred in the international community.

However, the friendship between the DPRK and China, a precious legacy handed down by the old generations of leaders of the two countries and an asset common to the peoples, is developing without any change in the face of all challenges and ordeals of history.

It is the firm will of the Workers’ Party of Korea and its people to further consolidate the traditional bilateral friendship generation after generation. The DPRK-China friendship will be everlasting in the future, too.
