Funeral of late veteran Party official held

The funeral of the late Ri Jae Il, former advisor to the Information and Publicity Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea who was also winner of Order of Kim Il Sung and Order of Kim Jong Il and DPRK Labour Hero, took place in Pyongyang on Saturday.

It was attended by officials of the WPK Central Committee, officials concerned and members of the bereaved family.

The participants and the bereaved family members paid a moment’s silence in memory of the deceased before the hearse left for the cemetery.

A funeral service was held at the Patriotic Martyrs Cemetery in Sinmi-ri.

Kwon Hyok Bong, deputy department director of the WPK Central Committee, in a funeral oration said Ri Jae Il was a faithful revolutionary soldier of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and a steadfast revolutionary comrade of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who rendered distinguished service to the development of the WPK.

Kim Jong Un put forward Ri, who had worked faithfully to uphold Chairman Kim Jong Il since the 1970s when the foundations for carrying forward the Juche cause were being laid down, as a revolutionary senior and veteran official and cared much about him, he said, adding he placed great political trust in him to work as first deputy director of and advisor to the Information and Publicity Department of the Party Central Committee, wished him good health whenever he met him and took good care of him.

His remains were then interred in the cemetery.

A wreath sent by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was laid at the grave.

Wreaths were also laid in the name of the departments of the WPK Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and other institutions.
