The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un sent a birthday spread to Pang Sun Bok living in Neighbourhood Unit No. 18 of Sinphung-dong, Wonsan, Kangwon Province, on her 100th birthday.

She lived in sorrow suffering the miserable lot of an enslaved nation under Japanese military rule, and only after General Kim Il Sung liberated Korea could she lead a genuine life as master of the country.

As she lived a patriotic life, she brought up children into admirable persons loyally supporting the country.

The Spring Clothes Show-2024 took place at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House between April 29 and May 10, adding to the warm feelings in the balmy spring season.

On show at the exhibition, held on the theme of "As resplendently as our era, as beautifully as our ideal", were at least 50 000 pieces of spring and summer clothing for men, women and children of over 20 kinds presented by more than 270 light industrial goods production units.

“The recent show was aimed at diversifying garment products as required by the public interest and aesthetic taste in the dressing culture which grow rapidly, leading the development of civilization in the new era,” said Yun Hong Gil, deputy secretary general of the Korean Garment Industry Association.

The 21st May 21 Architectural Festival took place at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang from May 7 to 10 under the sponsorship of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea.

The festival, which was held on the theme of “Comprehensive rejuvenation and development of our state and Juche-oriented architecture”, was attended by design, construction and educational establishments across the country. Presented to the festival were more than 400 architectural designs and formation plans which were highly appreciated in provincial (city under the direct control of the government) festivals, dozens of pieces of construction equipment and tools, programs for architectural information modelling and over 60 designs for projects. 

Sim Yong Hak, chairman of the Central Committee of the Architects Union of Korea, said that cups and diplomas were awarded to different units by synthesizing expert judgments and the public evaluation of exhibits and commendations and certificates were conferred on several lead developers who won high appraisal in the festival which was divided into the exhibitions of architectural designs and formation plans, construction equipment and tools and architectural information modelling. 

The DPRK took a large number of important measures for promoting the development of education in the new century of the Juche era.

The 12th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK promulgated the law on enforcing the universal 12-year compulsory education at its Sixth Session in September 2012.

The promulgation of the law was a great event proclaiming to the whole world that the DPRK would work towards an educational power.

The Korean ancestors attached much importance to military affairs and enjoyed horse riding, thus possessing skilful horsemanship in the period of Koguryo (277 BC-AD 668).

The Yaksu-ri and other tomb murals dating back to the period of Koguryo depict scenes of people on horseback hunting with bows and arrows tiger, bear, roe deer and other wild animals. This intensively shows the Koguryo people’s excellent horsemanship and archery.

They polished horsemanship through hunting and practised it through regular training in martial arts.

The delegation of the Rason City People’s Committee led by its Chairman Sin Chang Il returned home by train on May 18 after visiting the Maritime Territory of the Russian Federation.

This is a very dangerous act of further upsetting the extremely worsening global security environment and exerting a seriously negative impact on the strategic balance among major nuclear powers.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, president of the Russian Federation, paid a state visit to the People's Republic of China on May 16-17.

The Russian President met and had talks with President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

At the talks both sides discussed the issue of further strengthening the combination of development strategies and steadily enriching the content of bilateral cooperation with this year marking the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as a new starting point and exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

Wang Wenbin, a spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, dismissed the accusation of the US, which found fault with normal economic and trade transactions between China and Russia, at a regular press conference on May 16.

The US offered unprecedented military assistance to Ukraine while decrying the normal economic and trade transactions between China and Russia, he said, asserting that such an accusation is very false and irresponsible as a typical expression of double standard.

The US will be unable to solve the problem and ameliorate its passive situation caused by the Ukrainian crisis by shifting the blame onto China and that will only complicate the situation, he warned.
