The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea decided to convene the Eighth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK early in June to review the work of the Party and state administrative organs and the implementation of the national economic plans in the first half of 2023 and discuss the policy issues of weighty significance in the development of the Korean revolution.

A relevant resolution of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee was released on May 28. 

Socialist fields are bubbling with rice-transplantation.

On May 10, there was the first rice-transplantation of the country for this year in Wonhwa-ri of Phyongwon County, South Phyongan Province, which is associated with the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il. Working people and helpers in other parts of the country launch into rice-transplantation in the right time after making full preparations.

In the wake of holding a passing-on-technique conference at the Jasan Farm in Thongchon County, rural areas in Kangwon Province buckled down to rice-transplanting to bring about good results every day.

In particular, the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK held at the beginning of this year specified the tasks and ways to definitely put the agricultural production on a stable track of development in the near future and substantially strengthen the political, ideological, material and technical foundations of the rural communities.

Agricultural officials and workers and supporters in North Phyongan Province have exerted themselves with the zeal to attain the grain production target for this year without fail and as a result they have carpeted thousands of hectares of paddy fields with rice seedlings every day and many farms in the province wrapped up rice transplanting.

The province is now conducting an information and motivation campaign to implant in the minds of the masses the idea that doing good farming constitutes the most crucial, top priority task at present and fire them with enthusiasm for supporting rural communities.

Young people throughout the country, who are taking the lead in making a breakthrough for the fulfilment of the five-year plan for national economic development, work hard to carry out their economic plans ahead of schedule.

More than 590 young men and women in different economic sectors including coal, light, fishing and timber industries fulfilled their yearly economic plans, while over 5 100 others carried out their half-yearly assignments.

In particular, amid the fierce campaign of learning from and overtaking others and swapping experience in the coal industry sector, over 4 100 young people executed their half-yearly plans earlier than planned.

The St Petersburg city government in Russia on May 25 announced that it would prolong the anti-epidemic measures taken to check the spread of COVID-19 until August 31.

The mayor of the city signed the relevant document.

The participants in the internet photo show held on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of President Kim Il Sung’s official visit to Algeria sent a basket of flowers to the statues of the President and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang. 

The flower basket was laid at the statues on May 26. 

Written on its ribbon were words reading: “The great HE Kim Il Sung and HE Kim Jong Il will always be with us!”
