Drain pit completed for mines
Young people of South Phyongan Province finished the construction of the Chonsong-Songsanchon gravity-fed drain pit.
The completion of the drain pit, which runs deep underground through mountain ranges in the Satkat Peak area, has laid a solid foundation for putting coal production on a normal footing by naturally draining underground water from the pits in the area of the Chonsong Youth Coal Mine, while saving a great deal of labour, electricity and equipment.
An inaugural ceremony took place on November 26.
It was attended by Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, Ri Ho Chol, vice-minister of Coal Industry, Ri Hyo Bok, secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, relevant officials, shock brigade members and supporters.
