Young people get together to take pledge

A meeting of young vanguard to pledge to thoroughly implement the decisions made at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea was held at the Pyongyang Municipal Youth Park Open-Air Theatre on January 10.

It was attended by Ri Tu Song, department director of the WPK Central Committee, officials of the youth league and relevant organs and youth and students in Pyongyang.

Mun Chol, chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, delivered a report.

General Secretary Kim Jong Un highly appreciated that last year when the Party Congress was held, many young people volunteered to work in difficult and labour-consuming sectors and did good deeds impressing the people and that it was a remarkable success that young people became high-spirited, the reporter noted.

Young people are now faced with the honourable task of making a breakthrough for new victory on all fronts of socialist construction by thoroughly carrying out the decisions of the historic Fourth Plenary Meeting of the WPK Central Committee, he added.

The report was followed by speeches.

The speakers called upon young people to take charge of difficult and laborious parts and make a breakthrough in bringing about a great upsurge, normalize and revitalize production to firmly ensure the implementation of the five-year plan and fire up the flames of collective and joint innovation continuously.

A letter of pledge to General Secretary Kim Jong Un was adopted amid enthusiastic applause.

Then there was a march of young vanguard.

Holding up militant placards and slogans, they marched along the streets of Pyongyang in high spirits.
