Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on October 1 had a photo taken with teachers and researchers of Kim Il Sung University who significantly greeted its 80th founding anniversary.

All the participants extended their deep gratitude to Comrade Kim Jong Un, who attended the celebration of the university’s 80th founding anniversary and provided an immortal programme for the rapid development of socialist education in the new era, repeatedly placing deep trust on them and bringing them highest glory.

The 80-year journey the university made along with the prosperity of the Republic is an epitome of history proving the validity and vitality of our Party's policy of attaching importance to education and talents and a proud course showcasing the spirit and resourcefulness of the DPRK advancing with the intense aspiration and high ambition, Comrade Kim Jong Un said, adding that it is a source of pride and auspicious event for our Party, state and people to celebrate with splendour the founding anniversary of the parent university, the most prestigious and highest school which started the training of revolutionary talents for the first time in the country.

He expressed high respect and deep thanks to the noble life and patriotic devotion of teachers and researchers who are devoting their all to the future of the country with a noble sense of responsibility and pure conscience as educators, saying that the unassuming efforts of educators, who have become nourishment for the growth of their disciples unselfishly and without expecting any reward and guided them along the road of true human life, are found behind many talents ensuring the dynamic advance of our motherland which is opening up a new era of great transformation.

Stressing once again that the mission and role of Kim Il Sung University are very important and the expectations of the Party and the people in it are very great, he expressed his belief that the teachers and researchers of the university would reliably guarantee the overall development of socialism by playing a core and leading role in carrying out the strategic tasks of building an educational power, a sci-tech power and a talent power.
