China holds ceremony to launch and name new aircraft carrier

A ceremony took place in China on June 17 to launch and name a new aircraft carrier it designed and built with its own efforts.

The vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People’s Republic of China who is also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, awarded a naming certification to the commander of the military unit taking over the aircraft carrier and cut the launching tape together with senior officials of the military and the locality.

After its launch, the aircraft carrier will reportedly go through mooring and navigation trials according to a plan.
