Serious food crisis in Horn of Africa

A food crisis keeps worsening in the Horn of Africa.

The executive director of the World Food Programme said at a news briefing on June 16 that Ethiopia has suffered the severest drought damage since 1981, adding that about 7.4 million people were starving every day in the southern and southeastern regions of the country.

Saying that the Horn of Africa has sustained damage due to years of conflicts and climate change and has recently been afflicted by the pandemic disease, he warned that this region might be faced with unprecedented food shortage in 2023.
