The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received a flower basket and a congratulatory letter from the military attaches corps in Pyongyang on the 71st anniversary of victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War.

On behalf of the corps, the military attache of the Vietnamese embassy conveyed the basket of flowers and the letter to an official concerned on July 24. 

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received baskets of flowers from Cui Tongwen, honorary director of the Board of Directors of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation, and Lin Gennan, Cui Tongjun and Wang Shuli, members of the foundation, on July 24 on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of victory in the great Fatherland Liberation War. 

The 11th Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) took place on July 24.

Present there were members and alternate members of the GFTUK Central Committee and, as observers, trade union officials from Pyongyang and provinces.

The meeting discussed the issue of thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and others. 

 Talks were held between Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Maxim Vladimirovich Ruzenkov, foreign minister of the Republic of Belarus, at the Mansudae Assembly Hall in Pyongyang on July 24.

Present there from the DPRK side were Vice-Minister Kim Jong Gyu and other officials of the Foreign Ministry and from the opposite side the entourage of the Belarus foreign minister.

At the talks there was an in-depth exchange of views on the issues of further developing the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between the two countries and the regional and international situations of mutual concern.

The Tenth Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) took place on July 24.

Present there were members and alternate members of the UAWK Central Committee and, as observers, union officials from Pyongyang and local areas.

The enlarged plenary meeting discussed the issue of thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Tenth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and other issues.

The DPRK-Russia children's friendship camping began at the time when the traditional good-neighbourly relations between the two countries are growing stronger in various fields on a new level.

A ceremony of starting the DPRK-Russia children's friendship camping took place at the Songdowon International Children's Camp on July 24.

Present there were Kim Song Il, vice-chairman of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League, officials concerned, schoolchildren’s camping groups of the two countries and a visiting group.

A symposium on geological and biological diversity in the area of Mt Paektu took place at Samjiyon College of Technology and the Samjiyon City Sci-Tech Library in the DPRK from July 19 to 24.

Present there were lecturers, researchers, graduate students and others from more than 10 units, including Kim Il Sung University, Kim Chaek University of Technology, the University of Sciences, the State Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Forest Science.

Presented at the symposium were papers dealing with the distribution features of volcanic rocks in the area of Mt Paektu, the assessment, protection and management of forest ecological environment and the analysis of development of biodiversity according to climate change as well as necessary sci-tech measures.

A national children's paduk contest and a national paduk fan contest took place at the North Hwanghae Provincial Taekwon-Do Training Hall from July 18 to 24.

The contests brought together more than 210 children and over 60 amateurs selected from each province. They were held, divided into groups of relevant level according to age. They included men's and women's individual and doubles, mixed doubles and men's and women's team events.

Pyongyang Municipality came first in total standings in both contests. 

The Ryonggang Hot Spring Health Complex in Onchon county town of Nampho City is a favourite haunt of many. The complex is widely known along with the Ryonggang hot spring.
