The Russian permanent representative to the UN severely censured the US and the UK for their air raids on Yemen in his speech made at the UN Security Council meeting on January 13.  

Their attacks against Yemen, a sovereign state, can by no means be justified, he said, adding that their arguments to justify their acts of aggression carry little conviction.

The Anglo-Saxons wantonly violated again the UN Charter and other international laws in collusion with their following forces, making the already acute situation of the Middle East region more unstable, he asserted. Bombing and destruction are just the West’s “practical feats” and “effective Mideast diplomacy”, he disclosed, and continued:

“A wretched situation is being created in the Middle East. If the situation keeps deteriorating, the whole Middle East can never evade a catastrophe. Many people will lose their lives or ruin their life.

“The US and its vassal forces are wholly responsible for it. They are persistently hindering the efforts of the international community to demand a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip to serve their selfish geopolitical interests and have revealed once again their true colours as aggressors.”
