A sea of greenhouses appears for Pyongyang citizens
April 2, 2024A sea of enchanting greenhouses has spread out in the Kangdong area in a Pyongyang suburb in a matter of one year after its ground-breaking ceremony took place in February last year.
This is another crystallization of the affection shown by the respected General Secretary
He always kept it as an important plan in his mind to provide the citizens with fresh vegetables all the year round and elaborated it continuously.
He mapped out a plan for building such a farm for Pyongyangites at the time when he opened up a bright prospect for building modern greenhouse farms in different parts of the country a few years ago, made sure that the construction of the large greenhouse farm in the Kangdong area was fixed as a major construction project at the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and provided energetic guidance to this end.
He indicated the schemes and ways for completing the project in the shortest possible time, ranging from site selection to the formation of construction forces and supply of materials and gave instructions on dozens of occasions so that the greenhouse in the Kangdong area could be built as an advanced comprehensive greenhouse by introducing the cylindrical and multi-storey vegetable cultivation apparatuses and establishing an intelligent integrated production system.
He gave guidance over 300-odd plans for the construction of the greenhouse complex, including the master plan and bird’s-eye views, and 3 280-odd technical blueprints.
Under such loving care, the greenhouse complex was built as a modern and ideal “greenhouse town” and “farming town” with more than 1 050 modern greenhouses and production and public buildings of all kinds and houses for well over a thousand families with a total floor space of nearly 1.2 million square metres in an area of over 260 hectares.
The respected General Secretary endlessly bestows favours on the citizens of the capital city.
Under his guidance, flourishing socialist living spaces have appeared in different places of Pyongyang every year, and this year, too, products of the newly-built Kwangchon Chicken Farm have arrived in the capital day after day to animate the commercial service bases in the capital city.
And now a modern vegetable production base for Pyongyang citizens has been built to provide them with fresh green vegetables irrespective of season.
Indeed, it is the respected General Secretary who devotes himself to the happiness of the people and finds the greatest pride and worth in that.
I will redouble my efforts for the improvement of the people’s standards of living true to his intention of making devoted efforts for the good of them.
