A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the US for its moves to deploy missiles in the Asia-Pacific region at a press conference on April 8. 

The commander of the US Army in the Pacific said shortly ago that the US is planning to deploy intermediate-range missiles in the region in the near future. In connection with this, the spokesman referred to the fact that China has constantly opposed the US reinforcement of armed forces at the threshold of the Chinese territory in pursuit of unilateral military upper hand. 

China consistently maintains the advance along the road of peaceful development and pursues a defensive military policy, he added. 

He strongly urged the US to respect the security concerns of other countries and refrain from disturbing regional peace and stability.
