Academic degrees and titles were conferred on intellectuals on the occasion of the greatest national holiday in April. 

According to the decision of the State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles, the title of candidate academician was awarded to section chief Im Song Jin and researcher Nam Il Ryong of Kim Il Sung University, Pak Kyong Hui, researcher of Pyongyang University of Publication and Printing, and Pak Kil Nam, researcher of the Academy of Social Sciences.

Professorship went to nine intellectuals and doctorate to 49 others.

Associate professorship was conferred on 101 persons and master's degree on 1 061.
