Sea Kumgang Gate–natural monument

April 24, 2024

Sea Kumgang Gate is situated about 20 kilometres away from the county town of Kosong in Kangwon Province.

The area abounds with fish, shellfish and seaweeds and big and small hills, peaks and cliffs add a special touch of beauty to the gate.

At the entrance to the gate, myriad shapes of scenes are unfolded in the vicinity of one kilometre.

That was why people named it thus long ago as it looked like an estuary of Sea Kumgang.

The right rock of the gate is large and flat, and pines grow densely on it.

The seawater in the hollow inside the gate is blue and calm like a pool, but when wind blows hard on the shore, mountainous waves roll in and hit the gate to send a cloud of spray up to the sky.

Sea Kumgang Gate is of academic value and also adds to the beautiful shorescape.
