The Russian permanent representative to the UN censured the US for protecting Israel in the UN Security Council meeting concerning the Middle East issue on April 18.

The US openly regards the UN Security Council as a troublesome obstacle hindering their “effective diplomacy”, he said, adding that in effect the US is trying to offer complete freedom to Israel for properly arranging the Gaza Strip.

Russia calls on all member states of the UN Security Council to give support to the resolution for admitting Palestine as a full member of the UN with complete rights, he noted.
