The final matches of the Sports Contest of Workers in Major Industrial Sectors-2024 took place at Kim Il Sung Stadium in Pyongyang on May 1, the international holiday of the working people all over the world.
Among the spectators were Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, and other senior Party and government officials, officials of ministries, national agencies and relevant units, exemplary working people and Pyongyang citizens.
There was a march-past of groups of players, followed by the final match in each sports event.
The final match of the men's football between the teams of the chemical industry sector and the land and maritime transport sector revved up the festive mood. After a seesaw battle, the former beat the opponent 2-1 in the match.
Colourful sports and amusement games were also held.
The tug-of-war final match climaxed the sports contest.
The premier awarded diplomas to the team of the chemical industry sector which took first place in total standings of the contest, the teams of the land and maritime transport sector and the rail transport sector which came second and third respectively and the units and players who proved successful in the sports events.
Minister of Physical Culture and Sports Kim Il Guk made a closing address.
