Men’s and women’s football matches of 2024 Spring National Sports Festival

Though the 2024 Spring National Sports Festival ended, memory of it is lingering.

Of course, football matches are the main topic of conversation among sports fans.

The men’s group A league matches, which produced unexpected results, drew the interest of experts and fans as it was hard to anticipate the ranks to the last.

In the group league matches, the Rimyongsu and Kigwancha teams were the same in terms of disparity between gains and losses and score and therefore their rankings were decided by the number of warnings and send-aways.

The Kigwancha team, in the long run, failed to advance to the next stage due to more numbers of warnings.

The matches of group A taught a lesson that they should not neglect foul moves in the ordinary training and they can gain better results only when they strictly observe rules in the matches.

In this season, some teams benefited from the 11m penalty kick. A typical example is the Rimyongsu team, which was placed third in the men’s matches.

It scored four 11m penalty kicks among five goals in five matches and that played a decisive role in advancing to the last four.

Meanwhile, the Jebi and Kigwancha teams fully displayed their higher physical, technical and tactical abilities at the 2023-2024 DPRK women’s premier league matches. They also demonstrated changed looks in the first-stage matches.

They attached importance to attack by getting rid of the previous defence-oriented tactics and created scoring chances while employing diverse tactics in keeping with changing situations.

They have still some weak points including scoring abilities, but experts comment that they might bring good results in the forthcoming games with strenuous efforts of players and coaches pooling strength and wisdom to overcome their weakness.

As the men and women’s matches ended, top scorers were produced.

Top scorers included Pak Kwang Chon, forward No. 16 of the Ryomyong team, and Kwon Hyok Jun, midfielder No. 17 of the Amnokgang team. They scored five brilliant goals respectively while playing the role of captain and pillar of their teams.

Kim Kyong Yong, forward No. 12 of the Naegohyang team, scored seven goals in women’s matches to be the top scorer.
