Mt Kuwol scenic spot
May 17, 2024Mt Kuwol in South Hwanghae Province is a large mountain forming major part of the Kuwol Mountains stretching almost parallel with the west coastline of Korea.
The mountain has many names, as it boasts magnificence, beautiful landscapes in four seasons and many historical records about King Tangun, founding father of the Korean nation.
Legend has it that the mountain was called Kuwol (September) because of its beautiful scenery aflame with autumnal tints in September, and it is said that its name is derived from the fact that it consists of 99 peaks.
The mountain is magnificent and curious with conspicuous towering rock peaks and cliffs, fantastic rocks and valleys flanked by thick forests and crystal-clear streams going well with waterfalls, pools and rapids.
The mountain, which is characterized by distinctive beauties of mountain and valley, has a relatively warm climate and the amount of rainfall there is not small.
The flora and fauna in the Mt Kuwol area are diverse and abundant.
Many wild animal and bird species add beauty to the scenery of the mountain.
