May 18, 2024

The sector of general education has recently introduced education through optional subjects as part of the efforts to make innovations in the structure of education and works to intensify technical education.

It started education through optional subjects on a trial basis at dozens of senior middle schools across the country with training forces ready to develop students’ gifts and aptitudes to the maximum with the beginning of the new school year this year.

It offered short courses for teachers who would carry out the curriculum for first-year students of senior middle schools based on the second universal 12-year compulsory education programme in order to successfully enforce such education in the fields of literature, science, the arts, sports and technology. And relevant schools assigned study courses rationally in consideration of their teaching forces and speeded up the thorough preparations for teaching.

Relevant areas promoted the work to select students who wanted to study optional subjects and admit or transfer such students to schools selected as test units within the areas, and solved some other problems.

According to an official concerned, the experience of such schools will be generalized in the future.

As scores of new technical senior middle schools (technical classes) are to be established, efforts are being directed to making ready teachers of special subjects and properly securing experimental apparatuses and materials. This is of great importance in making students acquire full general basic knowledge and more than one technical skill.
