The Venezuelan Foreign Ministry made public a statement on May 16 to censure the US for its sanctions against Nicaragua.

Recently, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions against businesses and entities in Nicaragua on unreasonable pretexts, and the statement branded and condemned it as an attempt to destroy the country’s anti-imperialist and independent stand.

The international community should not tolerate interventionist acts trampling on countries’ rights to self-determination and independent economic development, it stressed.
