Russian presidential press secretary Dmitri Peskov rejected Germany’s assertion at an interview with a reporter of Russia’s state-run TV and radio broadcasting service on June 9.

Not long ago, the German Defence Minister took issue with Russia, asserting that his country should complete preparations for war by 2029. In this regard, the press secretary said that Germany, which is short of independence, is making desperate efforts to curry favour with the US, NATO and the EU, centres of power in the West.

Recalling President Vladimir Putin’s remark that Germany has never exercised its sovereignty properly since the end of World War II, he derided Germany, saying, “Look how hard they are trying. They competitively announce statements at various levels. They are in a sorry plight that much.”
