Officials of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, the Cabinet of the DPRK, working people’s organizations and ministries visited the Laotian embassy in Pyongyang on April 6 to mourn the death of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone, former president of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
Present there were Kim Song Nam, director of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, Pak Sang Gil, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, and officials concerned.
A wreath in the joint name of the Central Committee of the WPK, the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly and the DPRK Cabinet was laid in front of the photo of the late Comrade Khamtay Siphandone.
Also placed there were wreaths in the name of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of External Economic Relations, the Pyongyang Municipal People’s Committee, the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League and the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea.
Written on the ribbons of the wreaths were the letters reading, “In memory of the late Comrade Khamtay Siphandone”.
The participants paid a silent tribute to the memory of Comrade Khamtay Siphandone who had contributed to the development of the Lao party and state and the DPRK-Laos friendly relations.
They made entries in the condolence book.
