The 38th National Festival of Science and Technology closed with due ceremony at the Sci-Tech Complex in Pyongyang on May 7.

Exchanged at the festival were valuable successes and experience conducive to the country's economic development and the improvement of the people's standards of living. And the sectional symposiums and presentations on science and technology and technical lecture took place for scientifically and technologically guaranteeing the successful completion of the five-year plan and the implementation of the regional development policy in the new era.

Present at the closing ceremony were Choe Tong Myong, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and working people.

The general examination results were announced at the ceremony.

The Hwanghae Iron and Steel Complex, the Heat Engineering Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the Munphyong Smeltery, the Jongju Chicken Institute of the Academy of Poultry Science and the Korea Surim Trading Company took the special place and more than 70 units including blast furnace workshop No. 2 of the Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex, the Physics Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the Tanchon Smeltery and the Kujang County Post Office the first place.

The new technology product development prize were awarded to 21 units including the physics faculty of Kim Il Sung University, the sci-tech learning space of the Taehung Youth Hero Mine, the Mirae Industrial Technology Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology and the State Stocks Maintenance Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, and the merit prize were conferred on 13 units including the Geology Institute of the State Academy of Sciences, the Sinuiju Sleeper Production Company of the Sinuiju Railway Branch Bureau and the Taean Heavy Machine Complex.

In the standings of ministries and national agencies and provinces, the State Academy of Sciences and Pyongyang Municipality took the special place and the Academy of Agricultural Science, Kangwon Province, South Hamgyong Province and North Phyongan Province the first place.

Diplomas, trophies, medals and prizes were awarded to the units and participants who were highly appreciated.

Kim Song Bin, chairman of the State Commission of Science and Technology, made a closing address.
