A spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce of China answered a journalist on May 8 as regards the coming talks between China and the US on the tariff issue.

China is consistent in its stand to resolutely oppose the US’ abuse of tariff, the spokesperson said, adding that if the US intends to solve the issue through negotiations, it should squarely see the grave impact made by the unilateral tariff measures on itself and the world, international economic and trade rules and fairness and justice, and show its sincerity for the talks.

The spokesperson stressed that if the US’ deeds are different from its words and if it even keeps resorting to threat and blackmail behind the signboard of talks, China will never have the talks and try to reach any agreement at the sacrifice of international fairness and justice.
