The collective security treaty organization released a statement on May 9 to condemn the moves to distort the history of the Great Patriotic War.

The statement said that the organization decisively rejects any attempt to distort the result of the Second World War and reevaluate the historic significance of the Great Patriotic War.

Calling for sacredly cherishing the memory of unparalleled bravery of the Soviet people, it pointed to the need to preserve the truth of the fight that liberated the world from Nazism for the present and younger generations and not to allow hatred, extremism, racial, national and religious discrimination and other inhuman practices to revive.

It emphasized that joint efforts are required to prevent a new global conflict.
