New street filled with joy and excitement
May 16, 2025Deep gratitude is now overflowing in the new street built in the Hwasong area as a flourishing socialist living space.
Trucks, bearing a piece of paper, reading “Moving into new house in Hwasong area”, on their front windows, enter the street one after another and passers-by wave hands to the owners of the new houses.
Happy laughter and cheerful songs are heard in every block and building on the new street wrapped in a festive mood.
The whole street is so excited that everyone has sleepless nights.
A workers’ family consisting of a man and his wife and daughter has become the owner of house 1 on the 16th floor of entrance 3, building 9, block 12.
Kim Kwang Hyok, worker of a medical supplies factory who moved into a new flat, said that words failed him to express his delight and that he was determined to work hard for the country.
“I have brought up three children alone since my husband, honoured disabled soldier, passed away some ten years ago. As my eldest daughter grew up, I got anxious inwardly. But the country provided us with this spacious new flat to relieve my anxiety,” said U Sun Sil, who moved into the 13rd floor of building 17 of block 4.
War veteran Kim Song Gu said she can see wonderful service facilities she has never seen or heard before near her new apartment building.
It is not only laughter of joy and expression of gratitude that are heard from the people’s ideal street.
The owners of the new houses are all filled with the resolve to repay the favour shown by the state.
Kim Hyang, honoured disabled soldier who settled in building 13 of block 14, said that when she arrived with household goods, soldier-builders came to help her and officials of Pyongyang Municipality and Hwasong District have frequently called on her to inquire after her living conditions lest she should feel any inconvenience, adding that she is determined to make a contribution even a bit for the benevolent system and embrace of the country.
Saying that she did neither dig even a spadeful of earth nor carry even a brick for the construction of her house, Hong Jong Hui, a saleswoman of the East Pyongyang Department Store, expressed her determination to devote all her efforts and intelligence to repaying the favour shown by the country.
