Maria Zakharova, a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, denounced the sanctions measures of the European Union at a press conference on May 15.

Referring to the fact that the EU is clinging to anti-Russia sanctions on the pretext of fictitious “threat from Russia”, she exposed that such a move is aimed at diverting the attention of European citizens away from the difficult problems created in the economic field.

It has already become clear that anti-Russia sanctions imposed by the EU so far have failed to have any influence on addressing the Ukrainian situation and the anti-Russia sanctions have now become a ridiculous thing, she derided. 

Moscow will never pass over the EU’s sanctions, but take countermeasures in primary consideration of the interests of Russia and its citizens, she emphasized.
