A health facility was built at the Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences Hospital for improving the technical and practical skills of medical workers of city and county hospitals that are being built in a modern way according to the Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Medical workers of city and county hospitals including those of Kangdong and Ryonggang counties and Kusong City are learning advanced medical science and technology at the practice facility.

The training is aimed at making prior preparations for providing efficient medical treatment at city and county hospitals that are being built in a modern style.

As the construction of hospitals started in Kangdong, Ryonggang and other counties and Kusong and other cities, the Ministry of Public Health worked on the organization of their apparatuses to suit their scale and the drawing up of curriculums for training.

In particular, the ministry channelled big efforts into planning the curriculums in contact with the relevant units.

Meanwhile, it set up a teaching force with competent medical workers of the Pyongyang University of Medical Sciences Hospital and other central hospitals.

After the training base was built at the hospital and preparations for its operation was completed, the technical training course began in mid-May, mainly involving section chiefs and head nurses of Kangdong and Ryonggang county and Kusong city hospitals.

According to a ministry official, directors and deputy directors for technical affairs of city and county hospitals will take a short training course at central hospitals in the second half of the year so that they can properly manage and operate their modern hospitals, and continuous education and intensive training course will be offered to regularly assess and constantly raise the technical and practical level of the medical workers of city and county hospitals.

It is also planned to develop and introduce an intelligent medical service system, which makes it possible to provide medical service and manage hospitals scientifically and efficiently, in cooperation with IT experts of the relevant units.

When modern city and county hospitals are built and the medical skills of local medical workers are improved, residents of remote mountain and island villages will also be able to enjoy the same benefits of advanced medical service as those provided at central hospitals.
