May 26, 2025

Fishery units in North Hamgyong Province have conducted an intensive fishing campaign to increase fish haul 1.3 times as compared with the same period of last year.

The Sinam Fishery Station increased the fish catch per netting by introducing rational fishing methods suited to seasonal conditions.

The Chongjin and Kim Chaek fishery stations have caught a large quantity of fish including migratory fish by raising the operation rate of fishing boats.

The province has also conducted offshore aquaculture on a large scale and protected and multiplied marine resources in a planned way.

Dozens of hectares of more culture grounds have been created than last year and thereby a foundation has been laid for boosting the production of marine products including kelp and mussel.

The Kanhae Stocking Fishery Station increased the per-hectare production of kelp by securing the seeds of high-yielding varieties, rationally growing and dispersing seedlings and properly manuring and cultivating them.

The Sokho Offshore Culture Station has registered good results in seaweed production despite unfavourable weather conditions.

The Komalsan Offshore Atlantic Salmon Farm built a good spawning ground and introduced efficient hatching methods to stock the sea with hundreds of thousands of young fish and fry, thus contributing to the multiplication of marine resources.

Employees of the Jikha Atlantic Salmon Pedigree Farm and the Sapho Stocking Fishery Station have secured breed fish and effectively conducted the stocking while meeting the requirements of technical regulations including water temperature and oxygen supply.
