Russian FM decries aggressive policy of NATO and West
June 2, 2025Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov condemned NATO and the West for their policy of aggression at the international meeting of high-ranking representatives for security on May 28.
Saying that the aggressive expansion of NATO toward the east for several years acted as a “trigger” for the Ukrainian dispute, he noted that Ukraine should be a neutral, non-bloc and non-nuclear state in order to successfully settle the Ukrainian crisis.
Historical experience shows that disaster occurs when NATO comes, he said, stating that the expansion of NATO forces near his country’s border and the deployment of NATO's infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region are arousing anxiety and concern of Russia.
The West is openly attempting to separate individual countries from ASEAN and implicate them in their narrow-minded adventurist actions, he added.
