Russian President Vladimir Putin mentioned the national policy on language in a meeting on June 5.

Saying that the national policy on language has the mission to develop and protect the native language of Russian, he pointed to the need to get rid of vulgar and mechanical loanwords and use the Cyrillic alphabet in social space, not a hotchpotch of Latin and other letters.

He also stressed the need to improve the quality of Russian language education in general and professional education at all levels and step up the work to make a new law on language.
