UNGA adopts resolution in demand of immediate ceasefire in Gaza
June 16, 2025An emergency special session of the United Nations General Assembly held on June 12 adopted a resolution in demand of immediate and unconditional ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
The resolution condemned Israel for refusing to allow access to humanitarian aid while using the war tactic of starving civilians against the Palestinians.
It emphasized that Israel must immediately lift blockade, open all points of border passage and ensure that aid reaches Palestinian civilians in the whole area of the Gaza Strip.
It resolutely denounced and rejected the moves of the Israeli authorities to forcibly expel the Palestinian people and illegally control their territory, and demanded Israel stop the construction and expansion of Jewish settlements, confiscation of land and forced removal of dwelling houses in the West Bank including East al-Quds.
The emergency special session of the UNGA was held at the request of Arab countries in connection with the US’ recent exercise of its veto against a resolution of the UN Security Council on truce in Gaza.
Most of UN member nations supported the resolution at the special session.
