Regional educational development and role of teachers training institutions

Educational development in regions is important in developing the overall education of the country rapidly and in a balanced and unified way. Only when education is developed in regions can the level of overall education be put on a high stage.

What is most important here is to strengthen the ranks of teachers. So the teachers training institutions in each province have a very heavy duty.

Therefore, a new teachers training college has been built by modelling on Pyongyang Teachers Training College in each province, followed by the construction of universities of education. This year Kim Chol Ju University of Education, a base for training teachers who will be responsible for secondary education in Pyongyang Municipality, is now being rebuilt as a standard and model of the teachers training sector.

Teaching forces should be prepared first in order to strengthen primary and secondary education, the main link in carrying out the educational revolution in the new century, and to reduce the differences in educational level between the capital and the provinces and between cities and rural areas.

The quality of teacher training should be improved.

In recent years, the educational sector has achieved a series of successes in raising the qualifications to teach of graduating class students of teachers training colleges by annually conducting the work to judge their practical ability to teach special study subjects.

Universities of education and teachers training colleges should pioneer new subjects in the field of educational science, give students a deep understanding of educational scientific knowledge and enlist them in the creation of new teaching methods so as to make them become competent in both their specialities and practical teaching.

It is also important to establish a system of paying primary attention to intensifying teacher training in the guidance of and assistance for the educational sector.

Well aware that the educational development in regions hinges on the role of the teachers training institutions, they should preferentially nominate students of high ability for entrance to relevant universities and colleges so as to prepare them as able reserve teachers and should pay close attention to providing necessary conditions in keeping with the introduction of the new teaching management system.
