The Contest of Skilled Workers with Different Jobs in Various Sectors of National Economy-2025” is going on.

The contest is aimed at further improving the technical knowledge and skills of workers and strengthening the skilled workforces of relevant sectors and units through the production of farm machines needed for developing the agricultural production of the country, the production of consumer goods for regional people, housing construction and the production of school uniforms and bags.

The winners are decided through the examination of skilled workers’ basic theoretical knowledge and the assessment of the quantity and quality of work done.

The contest divided into the events of lathing, pipe-making, plastering, sewing and bread-making, has brought together over 200 skilled workers selected from across the country.

The Songchon County Foodstuff Factory, built as the first entity of the implementation of the Regional Development 20×10 Policy of the Workers’ Party of Korea last year, was also selected as a venue for the contest.

Highly skilled worker’s grade is awarded to the skilled workers who have won or been highly appreciated at the job-specific events. The contest which started in 2018 has since produced well over a hundred highly skilled workers.

During the period, unprecedentedly many new records and standards were set at production and construction sites where the contest took place, making it possible to carry out production plans and annual plans ahead of schedule.

“This contest implants a competitive spirit in skilled workers and has greatly contributed to the economic development of the country and the improvement of the people’s living standards,” said Ri Jin Ju, a staffer of the Ministry of Labour.

The skilled workers, who participate in the contest, learn from other skilled workers at the sites how to bring about more efficient results in production in the same working condition while working together with the latter and share experience with them.

The participants all say that the contest acts as a stimulus for the campaign of learning from and overtaking others and swapping experience to spread across the country like a wildfire.

　A contest of lathe operators and pipe-makers took place at the Kumsong Tractor Factory from May 27 to June 5 as part of the Competition of Skilled Workers in Different Jobs in Different Sectors of National Economy-2025.

The contest brought together skilled workers selected from ministries, national agencies and provincial people's committees, including the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry and the Ministry of Machine-building Industry.

The contestants ensured both the quality and speed of production by displaying their high technical skills and collectivist spirit.

On June 5 the standings were announced and excellent skilled workers were awarded trophies and medals, diplomas in the name of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea and relevant prizes.

The contest will run until October.
