UN organizations express concern over food crisis in Yemen

June 27, 2025

The food crisis in Yemen is getting more serious due to long-term economic decline, continuous conflict and severe weather phenomena.

FAO, WFP and UNICEF issued a joint statement on June 22 to express concern that if there is no instant and sustainable assistance, more than half of the population in the southern part of Yemen will face food instability in the near future.

The statement called on the regional community to take urgent humanitarian measures to prevent the country from plunging deeper into famine.
