New arrester operation counter proves effective
July 20, 2025The electric power industry research institute under the Ministry of Electric Power Industry has newly made a lightning arrester operation counter in a Korean way.
The device plays an important role in ensuring a rapid analysis of accidents and protecting power facilities by monitoring the operation of arresters in real time.
An official of the institute said that the new counter of arrester operation is of great significance in strengthening the national disaster prevention capability.
The researchers intensified research into increasing the efficiency of the arrester operation counter while applying advanced technological data in accordance with the actual conditions of the country.
They succeeded in making a core part of the counter with domestic materials and raised the device’s precision level to further improve the accuracy of counting.
The new lightning arrester operation counter was introduced into various units of the country including the Jagang provincial power distribution station and was confirmed to be advantageous.
After building a perfect technical process capable of meeting the nationwide demand for arrester operation counters, the institute is continuously making achievements in the research efforts for ensuring the safety of the power system from damage by lightning strikes.
