A spokesman for the Chinese Defence Ministry censured Japan for playing up “threat from China” at a press conference on July 16.

In its recently announced White Paper, Japan branded China as the “unprecedentedly greatest strategic challenge”. As to this, the spokesman said that the Japanese authorities seriously interfered in China’s internal affairs by fabricating a lie in a bid to find a pretext for relaxing restrictions in the military field.

China expresses strong discontent and opposition in this regard, he said, strongly demanding that Japan draw a serious lesson from history and stop insulting and criticizing his country.
