The proud reality, in which the capital envies provinces, the regional rejuvenation represents the advance and development of the state and the ideal appearance of local areas becomes the true picture of Korean-style socialism, is being created in all parts of the DPRK today.

This is a manifestation of the steadfast will of the Workers’ Party of Korea to overcome the difference in living conditions between the capital and local areas and the imbalance between regions by accelerating regional rejuvenation and build an ideal socialist state which grows stronger from the low units upward.

The regional development precisely means the overall prosperity and growth of the state.

In our country, cities and counties are the strategic fortresses and bases of the state. The projects for regional development, including the modernization of regional-industry factories, acceleration of rural construction, renovation of schools and hospitals, housing construction, afforestation and landscaping, and forest and water conservation, are also carried out with each city or county as a unit. Therefore, the comprehensive development of the state presupposes the simultaneous and balanced development of all cities and counties.

The eternal prosperity of the state lies in eliminating the gaps between the capital and provinces and between urban and rural areas by strengthening the regional areas in every way.

In our country, the work of finally and fundamentally eliminating the differences in the standard of living between the capital and provinces and between towns and countryside is making dynamic progress at present.

The regional-industry factories which were splendidly built as first creations of regional rejuvenation in 20 cities and counties, including Songchon, Jaeryong and Sukchon counties, are now turning out popular products and commodities that can be representative of their regions.

Gigantic projects are also underway this year, the second year of implementing the Regional Development 20×10 Policy. The construction of regional-industry factories is being pushed forward vigorously, while modern hospitals, multi-functional leisure complexes and grain storage facilities are being built on an experimental basis.

A modern offshore farm and fishermen’s village are being built in Ragwon County on the east coast and the construction of the largest-ever greenhouse farm and vegetable research centre is progressing apace on the shore of the Amnok River.

Rural dwelling houses have been spruced up in different parts of the country, creating a new landscape peculiar to our state. In the agricultural sector, the top 10 agricultural counties and the top 30 farms of 2024 were selected amid the growing enthusiasm for scientific farming and high-yield emulation.

Our Party is pushing ahead with the development of the regions vigorously and stubbornly in order to build an ideal socialist state where all people who were born on this land enjoy a cultured and happy life.

When the trend of developing from bottom to top is firmly established and when positive efforts are made to effectively develop and utilize the economic resources and potentials peculiar to regions, it becomes a powerful driving force for the comprehensive development of the country.

The socialist state we aspire to is now in sight.
