The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations denounced the unjust conduct of the US as regards the South China Sea issue in a UN Security Council meeting on July 22.

The United States picks up a quarrel everywhere and sets regional countries at odds, while keeping ignoring the objective fact about the South China Sea issue, he condemned.

Though it has not signed the UN convention on the law of the sea until now, the US shakes its fist at other countries and interferes in their affairs, styling itself a “judge” of this convention, he asserted.

And it openly violates the territorial waters and airspace of China while conducting military reconnaissance and exercises by deploying offensive weapons including ground-based intermediate-range missiles in the sea area and frequently introducing warships and aircraft on a large scale on the pretext of “freedom of navigation”, he denounced.

It goes without saying that who causes confusion in the South China Sea and the sea area and who threatens the freedom of navigation while indulging in blackmail and violence in the sea, he emphasized.
