Receptions were given at the People’s Palace of Culture and Okryu and Chongnyu restaurants in Pyongyang on July 27 in celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War.

Present there as the guests of honour were war veterans and persons of wartime merit participating in the celebrations of the V-Day.

Present there were Pak Thae Song, Choe Ryong Hae, Pak Jong Chon and other leading officials of the Workers’ Party, government and armed forces organs.

Congratulatory speeches were made at the events.

Speakers warmly congratulated the war veterans, who had defended and glorified at the cost of their blood the precious country where all generations to come would live, on the occasion of the great V-Day which raised the state into heroic Korea and its people into heroic people.

They said that the venues of the receptions were filled with boundless reverence for those who had defended all the precious things from the enemy’s plunder and glorified the 80-year history of modern Korea with victory and glory as the witnesses of history who felt the excitement of August 15, the day of national liberation which brought about a radical turn in the destiny of the Korean people, and who remember the eventful days of the founding of the Workers’ Party and the DPRK.

They noted that the Party and the people always remember the fact that the costly self-sacrifice, blood and sweat of the victorious wartime generation permeate each page of history in which the name and flag of the newly-born DPRK shone as a symbol of the Korean people’s heroism and as the signpost of anti-imperialist independence for the times, and the right path of socialist construction was blazed.

They stressed that they would firmly defend the dignity and honour of the country and attain without fail the grand goals of building a prosperous power by courageously struggling with the faith of absolute loyalty and indomitable fighting spirit handed down by the brave soldiers of the wartime, bearing in mind the desire and earnest request of the war veterans who wish their beloved country would be strong and prosperous forever.

The participants toasted the eternal victory and prosperity of the DPRK, the gains of the revolution, in which the great soul of the forerunners is permeated, and the glory and happiness of the people, and the health and eternal youth of the victorious wartime generation.
