Valentina Matvienko, chairwoman of the Russian Federation Council, in a recent press conference said that the anti-Russia sanctions of the US and the West have failed to achieve their goal and that it is futile to threaten her country with new restrictive measures.

The argument about Russia’s “intervention” in the US presidential election was revealed as fabrication, she said, adding that needless to say, it is shameful for the US to have distorted fact in order to denounce an individual state.

Branding such an argument about “intervention” as the US administration’s premeditated provocation, she asserted that the US should lift all the sanctions it has imposed under the pretext of the argument.
