The US ruler threatened last July that India would face additional punishment in case it purchases Russian weapons and crude oil, and claimed recently that he was told that India would not purchase Russian crude oil any more.

But Indian government sources announced that the country would continue to purchase the Russian oil despite the US threat.

On August 1, a spokesman for the Indian Foreign Ministry stressed that India and Russia have been in strong partnership which has been verified for a long period of time.
