Schoolchildren from across the DPRK made a study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt Paektu from August 4 to 10 on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Korea's liberation.

During the study tour, they laid flower baskets and bouquets before the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and mosaics depicting their images in the revolutionary battle sites and Samjiyon City and paid tribute to them.

They went round Chongbong and Konchang bivouacs after visiting the Pochonbo Revolutionary Battle Site associated with the greatness of the anti-Japanese legendary hero.

At the birthplace of Chairman Kim Jong Il in the Paektusan Secret Camp they recollected the sacred revolutionary career and exploits of him who made a long journey of devotion for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people all his life.

Bearing in mind the noble meaning of the revolution in the battle sites in the area, they headed for Mt Paektu.

They toured Mupho Bivouac, where General Kim Il Sung set forth the militant task for advancing into the area of Taehongdan while camping overnight by leading the main force of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army, and the Taehongdan Revolutionary Battle Site.

They held an oath-taking meeting at the plaza before the statue of Kim Jong Il in Samjiyon City on August 10.

During the study tour, the schoolchildren conducted such diverse political and cultural activities as a meeting to tell impressions of the reminiscences of anti-Japanese guerrillas, a question-and-answer study contest and a contest of singing revolutionary songs in chorus while marching in array. They visited the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, the Samjiyon Potato Farina Factory and the Samjiyon Schoolchildren's Palace.
